nvidia vs amd

It's personal preference. I prefer nVidia over AMD myself. If you can spend the money, go for the nVidia.

Get the 7970, 7950 is way cheaper than the 680, its matched against the 670. And the 7970 is a good bit cheaper and equally strong

I would take the 7950. The extra cost of the 680 does not justify the performance gained.

For which to get, short answer is it does not matter, neither manufacturer is better than the other. As with all components, the best way to buy is to ignore the manufacturer name and base your purchase on the quality and performance of the parts in your given budget.

As it stands, AMD and Nvidia and their partner graphics card manufacturers have the same level of build quality, so it all comes down to the best price/performance for a card that suits your requirements. In this case, the AMD.

Honestly, given the choice between a 7950 and 680, I'd just get the cheaper one. The 7950 is about as much power as anybody could need for gaming and it's cheaper than the 680 so I'd get it.

THIS THIS THIS.

Hate all the AMD vs nVidia wars. It's all about what's good at what price point.

the only way to answer this thread is for OP to answer this question. Are you planning on doing anything other than play games and watch movies? If so Nvidia is the card to get. If not, AMD will be decent.
