It's possible that your PSU can't provide enough power to the entire system while playing Oblivion. It's one of the most demanding games I've seen. Can you post the specs of your PSU? mainly the brand, watts and amps on the 12v.

The PSU is the big box with wires comming out of it that connect to the various parts of your computer. Like the motherboard, hard drive, video card, CD/DVD/Floppy drives, and fans. There should be a big sticker on the side of the PSU with a lot of numbers and information(you may have to take out your PSU to see these numbers. Look for something that says +12v and under it should be a number like 18a(it should be in a table). If you can find that number then post it here. The watts and Manufacturer name would also help. Is this a custom build or bought from a company like Dell or HP?

Ok this is what i got from my PSU.

Qmax

model # LC-B350 ATX

Input= 115/230w ~, 8/4A 60/50Hz Version 2.03

+5V And +3.3V combined load 200w

+5V And +3.3V And +12V combined load 330w

total output is 350w max

I hope this info will help me out. Its really annoying when im in the middle of the game and it restarts. BTW it never did this when the sound was messed up. I dont know what happened but when I fixed the sound problem this problem started.

thanks

It's possible that the game is overloading your graphics card.

If a graphic card gets overloaded it restarts your windows. (This happens with alot of intergrated video) (I know your not running intergrated but, try this anyways)

Try turning the graphics down on the game and see if it does it again.
If that isn't it try updating all of your drivers including software such as DirectX

If that still doesn't help it's probably your PSU (Power Supply). Your PSU may not be able to push your graphics card power during extreme graphics/gameplay.

yeah that makes since but it never happened before i messed with the sound card. it also seems to only happen when im in the caves and theres no sound it goes in and out but when im outside its perfectly fine.

Turn down the bass to your sound card.

I have 5.1 surround sound.(300watt) and when alot of sound is going it use to make poping noises. I turn bass down a little on sub woofer and turn bass down through the driver app.

It fixed the poping noise. Maybe your having the same problem..

I dont have an option to turn down the bass on the sub woofer. where do i find the option to turn down the base on the sound card?

i still cant find the option to turn down the bass on my sound card there isnt a switch on my sub woofer to do it. i upgraded my catalyst to 6.4 for my video card and it still restarts my pc. also i when to medium quality on 640x480 resolution and it still did it. please help.

oh yeah i also turned down the graphics its at 640x480 on medium quality the choppy problem is gone but it still restarts. plz help.
