Obtaining the XP Pro OS?

Here's my situation: I have a desktop and a lappy. The Desky has a copy of XP Pro on it with a special key (for some reason, the key can be used multiple times, legitimacy is unknown) and Vista on the lappy. I own a copy of XP Pro but is unavailable at the moment.

Here's basically what I want to do: I want to load XP Pro on me lappy but the disc is unavailable. I figured the easiest thing to do would to download an iso of the OS and burn it to a disk but I don't know where i can find it or if it's even legal. If I can't do that, can I somehow transfer or copy the OS on me Desky to me lappy or extract the core OS or iso?

If any of this is illegal, just say so and the subject will be dropped.
 
He says he has an unused key for it how is it illegal? If you know of someone who has a copy of XP:pro borrow it and use your key and you wont have commited a crime assuming you paid for the original liscence you mentioned.

well i dont know the legality of what he wants to do but as long as he has a genuine valid key for it then i dont see what the problem is.

i also borrowed my friends Xp disk to re-install windows on my pc but i used my key.

no problems at all.:)

Well, like I said, it can be used multiple times............ :p

I actually got it from me neighbor when I had to reinstall windows on an prefab/oem system. It's the original version of XP which I have been heard to be able to use the key on multiple computers. Like I said, legitamcy is unknown unless someone wants to look up the fine print.........

The thing is, I don't know anyone at the moment to whom I can borrow a disk from so I either have to make a new disk or use some other method.........

The second one is definitely illegal.
 
your neighbour giving you a key you can use multiple times is 100% illegal, downloading an iso of windows from the internet is illegal, i have a alternative, forum-rule safe option
buy a legally purchased copy of windows.
