OC 1st timer

ok finally got me 3700 san diego OC ed to 2.6ghz {2.2 stock} which im very happy with as a first time OCer, thanks guys to all that have responed to my questions. and for any noobies here are some tips that i found out.

1- initally i couldnt get past 207mhz core speed as the comp would reboot, this was due to voltage and a slight increase sorted it.:(

2- lockups were caused by my HTT multi which was set to x5 now set at x3.

3- had to get a aftermarket HS and fan due to temp risin and the stock thermal paste compared to a good quality thermal paste was about 5c;)

4- even after this my comp temp was running slightly high, took out the fan filters (look like nets to stop dust) and this reduced the temp again by about another 10c, the comp is now runnin cooler at 2.6ghz than at 2.2ghz :D

5-if you have any probs get on here and post theres always someone who knows more.................:eek:

low clock speeds, 210mhz approx........mainly 3dmark03 had probs with, kept getting error messages, changed to HTx3 and ran fine. may ave been HTT + voltage. still runnin HT at x3 will try to up to x4 tomorrow.

looking back i had more probs {unstable} getting from 2.2ghz to 2.3ghz than from 2.3ghz to 2.6ghz. once i good it stable at 2.3 it seemed to go up no probs.

he has no question. i think he ment to make this thread as a place where ppl can post any oc problems or for ppl who have OC'ed for the first time to tell thier experience like he did.

i couldnt tell you my first experience to well as it was some time ago and i havent OC'ed any higher since b/c i need to save up for a better HSF. but i know i had problems getting higher than 220mhz fsb with a 1:1 divider b/c i dint kno my RAM wasnt a great to OC. found in a review it only went up to 218mhz:(

But, out of curiosity, what was the point of this thread.
 
ok i thought this forum was for dissucions , questions and advice ???? i was lettin people know as a 1st time OC my experience. but obivisously out of curiosity disscussion and advice is pointless.............

@fade2green514: Easy buddy ;) he just having a discussion about what he did, its ok to start new thread when you dont have questions, it often can spark a god discussion and may pose suggestions for him to improve. And the post your best oc is a relatively new sticky, whos purpose is more a listing of results rather than the methods employeed.

Congrats thats a really nice OC. You had more luck then me, my chip clocks like crap :(. What volts are you at?
 
running at 1.55 volts now. the voltage was the 1st thing to "fail" at stock 1.4v i couldnt pass 207 core speed, the comp would constantly reboot without warnin, once up to 1.425 run fine. any time then on if the comp would reboot whilst uppin the core clock speed i knew it was down to the voltage, raisin at .025 at a time
there is another thread on here with all the info for amd cpus it also lists there voltages http://www.computerforum.com/showthread.php?t=38061, very handy to see what there runnin at compared to ur cpu. itll give u some idea where ur voltage should be......
ive also upt the HTfrom x3 to x4 and tested no probs.............
