iam looking to overclock my cpu, but im not sure how to go about it. my specs are in my sig, can someone give me a step to step way how i should go about it. thanks.

yes i have but i was wondering if someone could give me the steps on how to do it with the hardware that i have, the overclocking 101 is only a guide, not particuarlly for my system.

It's pretty simple to start, just go into your BIOS and raise the "FSB" a few Mhz until either your satisified or it isnt stable.

how will i know when it is unstable? will i be able to get up to say the same as a 4000+ or even a 4200+??

When it becomes unstable, it will either crash when Windows is loading, or it wont POST. Sometimes it will enter Windows, but will crash if you run CPU intensive apps.

You could easily get it to 4000+ speeds, but they dont have 4200+ for the A64 single core.

if it does come un stable what do i do to make it stable again, do i just go into the bios and reduce the Mhz? do u know what Mhz the 4000+ runs at?

Hehe, 4000+ (san diego) runs at same speed as 3800+ (venice) but it has 1MB of L2 cache.
