OC for Dell

I bought my Dimension 8300 2 years ago and was afraid to do OC on it. But now I don't care, because I want better performence out of it.

I got P4 3.0 GHZ with DDR2 400 [I think it is 400].
I got into the BIOS but didn't see any overclocking options :\

can anybody help me out?

You can't OC a Dell from what I've heard. They lock the BIOS to prevent you from doing any OC. You're only choice is to find a program to OC in Windows, but your settings will be reset once you turn off the computer.

Since its generally a newer dell, you cant overclock in the BIOS. I have the same processor as you, I used a program in windows to overclock and I couldnt even slightly overclock it before it restarted itself.

As you said, You cant overclock Dell's in the BIOS.

I also had a Dell laptop, and when i tried to raise the fsb 1Mhz it restarted. Not to mention they have cheaper components, so they dont hold up as well when you tweak them.

I hate that Dell ! well I learned my lesson. I was new in the country, didn't know where to find cheap parts, was desperate for a computer so.....I gave $1700 for this shit !!!!!!!!!! can you fu***** believe it ?!?!

*oh and, I have a feeling [2 years I have this feeling] that those parts in my Dell are OEM :\

I read somewhere if you update your BIOS you can overclock.

Nope. Dell is strictly no-OCing. I have a Dell, and will be getting rid of it soon. Follow suit and you will be happy.

I wouldnt OC a dell even if you could. They have really cheap components that wont hold up.
I agree, I can't believe my Dell still works after almost 5 years of constant running, I hope one day to make it break like it naturally broke and I would have an excuse to get a new one.

Cover up the heating vents. Dells have horrible cooling, so it would overheat and break in no time.
Ha! I got to try that! Thanks!

Wait...is there any chance of it catching fire or something?

The computer should automatically shut down if the temps get too high, so you dont have to worry about catching fire. Just dont do it when you go away for the day.
