OC not cooperating :(

so I tried to oc for the first time today...didn't go so good.
raised the core by 5mhz. worked, yay.
repeated. worked, yay.
repeated, boom. not really but, it wouldn't boot etc, I lower it to consult my friend. he says lower ram frequency. I do, still boom, not yay.

then I tried the asus AI overclocking thing which is supposed to make it stable I guess, still wouldn't boot, not yay.

put it back to how i had it with the core clock only +10mhz, wouldn't boot, wtf?

put it back to default and it worked

...?

I don't get what's going on, I didn't get past raising my overall speed .1ghz

Try raising your voltage (vcore) a bit. Raise it up maybe 0.05 volts and see if you have any better luck.

ok, I'm stable with an fsb of 219 but only because for some reason, 219 is fine and 220 can't boot. vcore at 1.45v, tried lower ram frequency, raising ram voltage, etc...

it just dies past 219, but is fine at it. ideas?

a lot of RAM hits its limit at that point. you could try to increase the RAM's latencies or like your friend said lower the RAM frequency. but i would try the latencies
