OC or upgrade

Hey guys. Ya'll might have read my post about me buying some coolers for my CPU and GPU, but I've been thinking all day...

For you overclockers, can I OC my GPU enough that I will be able to play any game that I want on reasonable settings until Conroe comes? I just bought this cooler:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118117

I also bought a new case with awesome cooling (Just so you know).

Should I OC my 6600GT like mad? Or upgrade to...idk, say a 6800 or an x800?

I've got about 1,300 USD right now saved up for Conroe, and I just blew 163 on 2 coolers and a case, so I would really like to keep the costs down.

Thanks guys!

i wouldnt upgrade to anything less than a 7800GT, otherwise it wouldnt be worth it. I would just try to OC your CPU and GPU as much as possible.

And dont forget to put AS5 on the GPU.

I have AGP which sucks. I am going to try to OC my Intel P4 2.66 s478 as much as I can, how far do you think I can get it Omega?

Also, how far can I OC my GPU? Will it last till Conroe?

It really depends on the hardware you have and your specific chip, as they can range from a few Mhz to a few Ghz.

I would wait until Conroe comes out.

So, I can OC my GPU (even though it is only a 6600GT (AGP)) enough that I can still play games (just not on high settings) until Conroe comes out?

yeah just hold out for the conroe. thats what i would do. im perfectly fine with my 754s 3200+ and an 6800gt. im not even oc'ing. they handle most of the games on high if not ultra.

well ofcourse you won't get that big of a performance leap, as you're just increasing clock rates, but i think you should just keep the system now, save up some money, then make major upgrades.
