well see i have a cpu picked but ran out of stock and wanted to know.
can this cpu reach 3.0GHZ?
AMD Phenom 9850 BLACK EDITION 2.5GHz Quad
and i have 8Gb ram

first off. that much ram will never help you, just saying. 4 may be a good idea nowadays, but 8gb wont make a difference.

second, the Phenom you posted will get to 3ghz, with a good aftermarket cooler. i recommend this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835233003

its what is currently running my E8400 at 4ghz.
