Hello,
I'm new to OCing. I've read OC 101 and another guide somewhere on a google search to learn the basics. I've dabbled a bit but I can't seem to do any better.
My specs:
Mobo: Asus A7N8X Deluxe (2.0) (that's with an nForce 2 Ultra 400 Chipset)
CPU: AMD Athlon XP 2800+
RAM: 2 x 512 mb DDR (No name brand and Nanya Technology?)
PC 3200+ Running at 200mhz, 8/3/3/2.5
I have stock fans and nothing really special to mention. VCore is currently running at 1.7 V (Default was at 1.65) and the DDR Voltage is at 2.7 V (Default of 2.6)
I increased the FSB which was set at 166 to 200 and multiplier down from 12.5 to 11. Went from a core speed of 2080 mhz to 2200 mhz. I can't seem to find a way to run it any faster however.
1) The memory's clock speed (?) is maxed out at 200 mhz. I can't increase the FSB because the memory's clock speed is locked at the same speed. So I can't seem to increase the CPU's clock speed.
2) I can't increase the multiplier. As soon as I increase the multiplier and try to boot past the BIOS I get a BSOD.
3) The CPU is running at about 38-40 C idle time and when I run Prime95's torture test, it easily reaches 65 C. If I increase the voltage for the CPU and/or RAM while increasing the FSB it becomes incredibly unstable (although it does boot into Windows) and crashes soon afterward. If I increase voltage and the multiplier, it'll run but at hot temps. Idle is about 50 C and running the torture test I got to 73 C (!) which is when I decided to stop. The max temp for my CPU is supposedly 85 C where it melts down or something.
What can I do? Any suggestions? I'm a noob to OCing so it could be something really simple. If you have any questions I'll be glad to elaborate.
