I am going to OC my CPU soon and I want to know how far I can go, preferably I want to go to around 3.8ghz.
Specs: (added what I thught was needed, if more is needed tell me)
MOBO: Abit AA8 DuraMAX
Bus Type: Intel NetBurst
Bus Width: 64 Bit
Real Clock: 200 MHz (QDR)
Effective Clock: 800 MHz
Bandwidth: 640 MB/s
MEMORY: OZC Gold Increasd Latency Ram 2gb DDR2 SDRAM 533 MHz
CPU: Intel Pentium 4 630, 3000 MHz Prescott 2M
Package Type: 775 Contact LGA

TEMPS: (rest I think w/o water cooling system)
MOBO: 29c
CPU: 59c (too high?)
PWM1: 40c
PWM2: 48c
GPU Ambient: 38c

Adding this water cooling system for OC

def get better cooling whether you OC or not. Those temps are not good for that CPU, even though it's a prescott.

i would advise you not overclock with cpu temp that high, it will most likely fry your cpu.
too bad pentium 4's automatically underclock if something goes wrong :)
it would be extremely difficult to wreck a pentium 4
(intels procs survive better in high heat situations... but i think they run hotter anyways)

they will throtle down when seriously overheating, but so do amd. And that does not mean you cant damage your cpu. Remember its voltage that kills the cpu in the long run.

ooo, i heard prescotts ran hot? you should definitely spend some time getting that temp way lower though, i agree. i think by doing so, before you even OC, youll notice a difference in performance!
