OCZ buys PC Power and Cooling

The addition of PC Power & Cooling should give the company some great advancements in its power regulation, while sharing some convenience tech (like modularity) with its acquisition.
It's not that PC P&C can't make modular PSUs, but simply that they refuse to: http://www.pcpower.com/technology/myths/ (NB. I do not agree with the views expressed on that page).

It will be interesting to see what happens in that regard, though. The design philosophies of the two companies are quite different.

Hence the "I do not agree with the views expressed on that page" part of my post. To balance that, take a look at Modular Power Supplies: The Reality of the Resistance.

PC P&C are trying to sell a product, and are perfectly willing to make exaggerated claims to do so. Yes there's some extra resistance added through a modular connector, but it's nothing like 2 feet of wire's worth.
Due to their look, convenience, and cost savings for manufacturers, modular plugs have become a popular power supply feature
There's certainly no cost saving to using modular connectors. A PSU with modular connectors costs more to make than an equivalent PSU without them.
