Ok guys, I would like to buy an OCZ power supply soon.

I would like to know your opinions or comments (if u tried it)

The model i would like to buy is the STEALTHXSTREAM.

Hope to have a lot of replies.

PS. English isn't my first language, so plz do not look at the errors :D

Actually i will power a 8800GTS, AMD 5200X2, 2gb RAM, 320 HD and one optical drive.

I know it will be anought, but i just wanna know if they have good reputation.

Well here's the first chance to post a link to ceewi1's new stickies on supplies with the good and bad lists as well as the preferred seen at http://www.computerforum.com/90118-useful-psu-guides.html

OCZ is one of the top brands of memory and you'll find the brand on the good list. For individual application there it will more then cover use for a stock build. For heavy loads and big time ocing then you may want to go for a more expensive model like the Corsair HX620. With a new build in the works here I have to weigh in costs on a supply to run 3 or 4 hard drives, 2 opticals, PCI sound card and tuner card, and then a new Radeon X2600XT thrown on top. Yet this isn't a gaming build planned.

The GameXStream and the StealthXStream are very, very similar units, both based on the same FSP Epsilon platform. The differences basically come down to:
  • Fewer connectors on the StealthXStream
  • Different +12V regulators
  • A quieter fan on the StealthXStream, which also moves less air
Both the GameXStream and StealthXStream are good units for the money, my only real concern is out of spec ripple on the +12V rails at high loads. Glancing through the www.canadacomputers.com listing, I can't see anything better than the StealthXStream for the $82 pricetag. The Corsair HX520 is a nice step up if you want to spend the extra $20.

i personally own the OCZ gamexstream 700W psu. it was about 156$ american when i bought it, but im not sure of its prices now. its an awesome machine. checked the voltages, and apparently they underrated it a little on newegg. it never wavers, very solidly built, the fan helps keep my whole computer cooler, really does, and the blue light gives off a nice glow. it has a high efficiency, (80-85 % i believe) and the 700W banner means its future proof

LINK:700W OCZ

as you can see, rave reviews on these power supplies

The HX620 is unfortunately a little out of the budget range for the new build for the $170 approoximate price seen at newegg here. I was also looking at the HX520 for the new build in the works. One other question is on the Antec Earthwatts 500w model for a friend who needs an average not higher end supply.

Thanks there! ceewi1 You can find those at Staples for $70- currently. The ZipZoomFly place is one where my friend won't go again after there was a problem he had dealing with them. Others have had no complaints. Here the sale will be over before the order could be placed after 7/21. This is one reason I was taking a good look at the OCZ model.

The friend runs a NZXT gaming case but no demanding games and no ocing. Being on a tight budget he would probably go for the Earthwatts model to replace the TP2 480w that quit on him. He's currently running the one I had before the 550w. :P I told him to keep it as a gift since it would only hang around here a spare.
