OCZ PSU Question

I was thinking of buying this for my future build for my father. The only snag is I have never bought a multi-rail PSU since I heard they can be a problem.

I was going to get him the TX750w in my sig but this PSU is almost 50% cheaper which opens up more doors for the motherboard...limited budget :(

I am going to be powering
Phenom II x4 955 - going to be overclocking
GTX 260 216 core /ATI 4870 - not overclocking till he needs it. (not sure if I should go ATI for the AMD board)

I know it should power these light weights but I also want room to upgrade CPU/GPU if needed later on.He only plays WoW so I know the quad is overkill but he wants it and he is currently on a single core PC.

Also how do you add multi-rails to get the actual total amps? I know you don't just add the amps up. Also how do I keep load balance as to not overload anything?

Appreciate the help thanks fellas/ladies.

I'd go ATi on an AMD board, first ebcause of more choice, second because of price:performance compared to the 260, the 4870 is about the same but cheaper.

the PSU should power it all and have room for upgradability, plenty of it too.

With a decent PSU like that, you can pretty much just add the amps up, you will get atleast what it says on all rails with full load, so it should be safe with all 4 at 18 amps or close too. Your planned system shouldn't really tax it too much at the minute, so don't worry about overloading it or anything, you shouldn't really be able to because it is a decent and stable PSU

Any good 500w will power that system no problem. OCZ makes really good PSU and will power that rig with no problem. You should have plenty of room left for upgrade down the road.

Also....if your going with a 955, how much is the mobo? Because a 1156 system wouldnt be that much more depending on what mobo you have chosen atm.

I have had bad experience with my ocz power supply making a lot of wine noise and although you get a power swap warrenty you have to send the product back paying for postage and for me thats going to cost a lot unless you live near one of the places.

OCZ is a decent company, however, their StealthXStream line was more of a flop at first... the GameXStream (if it still lives) should be a better line of PSU's in my opinion.

However, it's Quad rail, and with 72a on the 12V, it should be plentiful.

Most PSU will make a wineing noise my corsair does and most of the PSU I have used does.
