what do you guys think is the better performing drive?
the intel is well renowned for its random read/writes which is what i would prefer over writting large files...

there is only 16gig difference which doesnt factor to me as i have 1.5tb behind the ssd
thinking of selling my intel and going for something faster

Well from a quick google the Vertex...

- Maximum Read: 240MB/sec
- Maximum Write: 170MB/sec
- Sustained Write: 100MB/sec

96GB capacity

Intel X25

- Read: Up to 250MB/sec
- Write: Up to 70MB/sec

Capacity 96gb.

Looks like the ocz has a bit slower read,But faster write speeds,is it worth it....totaly up to you realy.

Go for the OCZ Vertex 2 100 GB SSD.

Mine just shipped today.

Max Read - 285MB/s
Max Write - 275MB/s
IOPS - 50,000
Seek - .1ms
Controller - SandForce-1200

Or the vertex LE, the sandforce controller is absolutely amazing.

You may think i am a bit biased as i own a vertex, but the OCZ drives are simply amazing, especially for the cost... and you guys should realize by now that i owe brand loyalty to nobody(well, other than for some audio products...but thats just the audiophile in me speaking haha).

yes but that drive is £100 more than the one im thinking of? if i start going higher in price i might aswell buy another intel and raid 2 80gigs

ill sell my present intel x25-m for £120-130 ish and im looking at putting some more money to it but not more than £100

write speeds mean jack to me, i am interested in random read/writes

hmm... you should try out those search and comparison sites. Not sure which ones are out there for the UK.. but for us in Canada we use pricecanada.com, pricebat.ca and shopbot.ca

I got my SSD for $357 CDN which is roughly £234. So if you can sell your current one for £130ish and you don't want to shell out more than £100 it may be in fact very doable.

Here are the AS SSD Benchmark comparisons between:

i dont see the results for the ocz, and the intel listed is 160gig....

i have the 80gig, i am after a ssd thats not much more in price as the intel but has faster random read/writes and hopefully a few extra gigs space
