Odd Cooling?

Every now and then...one of Civilization's people tries to do something fun/innovative when they get bored. We will smile, and occasionally laugh at their odd inventions, and always wonder where they ever got a stupid idea like that... I think at this point in time..I'm that man. Here is my story:

I was looking at my video card today...and I started thinking "You know what? This thing needs a fan...not just a huge heatsink [thanks dell..]). I found an old computer fan in my 2000, and some ...other.."materials" and started on the best custom gpu fan ever invented.

I've tried to Diagram everything in paint (lol...good ol' paint) because the image lacks quality...(took it with a cell phone..)

As you can see, its extremely high tech, and even adjustable.

haha, love it especially the popsicle stickand clothes pin, i have thought of doing the same thing but there is no point since i already have a fan on mine.

That's right up there with the hands-free cellphone device (a rubber band around the forehead) from a few years back! You might have something with this!

That's just begging to have a better pic taken of it. Please find a better camera so we can get a better look at your.. umm.. mod.

Just remember who your friends are on CForum when you make lots of money. Have you patented it yet.:P

that is just stupid... although the idea is sound. i went over and saw it... i went all the way to kansas from mexico to see it and the case got so hot anyway that i melted the hot glue he used to put it on.

The 8600GTS performs just a tad under my 7900GT. You should have shelled out the extra cash to get at least an 8800GTS. The 8600GTS is mid to budget range, you will not be able to run many current generation games on high or even medium settings.

No way, the 8800gts is (almost) $150 more expensive than the 8600gts...and I'm not sure the performance gain (which would be a lot..) is worth almost $150.

What do you guys think? Should I upgrade to the 8800gts? Is the extra $150 worth the performance gain? (Remember, this is a DELL that I'm upgrading here....) Also, I've heard that the 8800gts wont even fit in the E521)

It really depends on what kind of games you want to play, the 8600GTS can play half life 2 ep 2 with no problems, but if you want to play Bioshock and up the detail then you will have a problem.
