odd ultra psu question regarding gfci

i recently purchased an ultra case and 750w modular power supply bundle, hooked everything up and the psu wouldn't turn on. i put an old 500w in and it worked fine. hooked up the psu to a different machine, and it didn't turn on either.

i live in an old house that was built in 1919, and unfortunately i do not have many grounded outlets. is it possible that the lack of gfci would cause the power supply to not turn on due to some safety feature?

after all of the discounts and mirs, the whole thing cost like 15 bucks, so i just ate it and checked some things in the psu. i made sure power was flowing thru the switch to the board w/ a meter, everything looked OK inside of it. i know ultra is not a great brand, i assume it's just a bad psu. i did check voltage across power supply on and attempted to jump it, didn't turn on and voltage there varied between 3 and 5 volts. idk might just ebay it, maybe someone can fix it or use the cables, it's a decent psu honestly - modular 750w ultra special edition x4.

ok, that's fine, i stated they were not a good brand lol i got huge discounts on it, the case itself was beyond worth what i paid. but just thinking out loud, is there any reason lack of gfci would cause it to not function? is there anything else i can check within the psu? pretty much 0 ohms from plug to wire that's soldered to the board, so it's def getting 120vac. the inner workings of psus are beyond my elect knowledge, though

Short the good signal on the 24 pin connector and see if it turns on, if not, your issue is the PSU or ground. If it does your issue is with the PC.

i'll have to sort what the main lead is, but i assume that's something out of the 24-pin atx connector(?) the switch on the back is good, i am reading pretty much 0 ohms from back plug to where the wires that carry the 120vac are soldered to the board, so it is getting 120vac there thru the power switch. i tried jumping PS_ON to the gnd next to it, and it didn't do anything. sounds like it's probably just doa. thanks tho
