Hi,
First time poster here from North Texas.
I have a few USB devices I use with my PC DAW (digital audio workstation).
Yesterday I installed a powered USB hub. Not because I needed additional input ports but simply to bring the ports up closer to the front of my desk.
Then I hooked up a Mackie Control XT which I recently purchased.. This is to supplement my Mackie MCU control surface. I used a USB MOTU Fastlane 2x2 MIDI box for this.
Now when I shut down the computer, it acts exactly as if I clicked Restart insted of Shutdown. When it hits the final black screen it then starts right back up.
If I stop the MOTU Fastlane (using Safely Remove Hardware by clicking on the little green USB icon down by the clock and selecting the MOTU MIDI unit), it shuts down fine.
I have the USB hub interface plugged in to a USB port on the front of the computer instead of the rear. Also, I only have one other device plugged into the USB hub, an external DVD burner. It works fine and doesn't seem to be the cause of the problem.
Any ideas?
On edit* I'm running XP Home.
Thanks,
Earl
