Office 2003 Problem

Ok guys here's the problem. I bought an Hp NC 6000 laptop a couple of months ago and it came preloaded with Office 2003. I use it quite often but today I tried to open an Excel file and the Windows installer opened up and wanted to reinstall Office, well turns out it has a lost file that cannot be found. Is there any way to get this file back? I have a n os restore disk but no Office 2003 disks. Could this be a virus of some sort or maybe my hard drive going bad? I can post a HJ log if needed.

Sorry for the long post. All help is appreciated

I do not know how to properly read the logs. But if you have an OS restore disk that you recieved with your laptop, and the laptop came preloaded with office 2003, then the os resotore disk also has office 2003.
 
Get OpenOffice. It's is a completely free office suite, you don't have to pay for anything and it's completely legal. It also supports pretty much all Office 2003 formats (I'm not sure about templates and such, but common files open up no problemos). Even if you don't like it, it's a viable temporary solution until you get your Office 2003 installation fixed.
