Official Photoshop Competition - Move to Fortnightly?

What would you like to see happen with the Official Photoshop Competition?

This poll is to discuss whether it would be a good idea to change the Official Photoshop Competition to a 14 day rotation from its current 7 day rotation.

Some people have remarked that they would be able to participate more if they had more time to work on their entries. Plus some may feel that they want to enter both this competition and the music competition that has been recently trialled, but have to choose one or the other due to time restraints.

What do you all think?
 
I voted to change it to 14 days, I know I haven't entered anything :P but theres a slight chance that I would if I have more time and the theme it right. :D
 
I like seeing the entries every week, but people have said they'd enter if they had more time, so I vote for 10 days.
 
I voted for 7 day rotation
The only reason why I don't enter is that I don't like the theme or the original picture...
 
I'm with Shady on this one. Usually I can't think of a good way to follow the theme so I don't enter, and alexandergre shames me with his superior photoshopping ability :P
 
It would be quite an feat to have good inspiring themes week after week, when you consider the number of individual differences in what they like/can work with.

One extra thought, would people be happier if they were provided an image with no theme and completely free reign, with the only requirement coming up with a title for their work? Or perhaps having a theme but not being obliged to stick to it, and it being only a guide to help you?
 
i like the idea of not having a theme for a week or so, but it could backfire without a framework
 
There's gradually been a decline in the number of entrants for whatever reason, so we have to move away from a 7 day rotation to at least dispel that theory.

I've voted for a 14 day plus I would like a theme, if nothing else but to try and judge on a level playing field.

Whatever the outcome it's basically "USE IT OR LOSE IT"
 
Move to Fortnightly - A Suggestion

I like the idea of a weekly event, however, sometimes the theme itself is a little too restrictive... Look at the record entry week, mostly due (I think) to a nicely open topic of "Turn this forest into a magical forest". Last weeks topic seemed to be ok, however, the original picture could have been a little better.

As it stands, I think people would get impatient if it were any longer than 7 days, but we may get more entries and a higher quality thereof if it were over 14 days... Lesser of two evils? For me, it's gotta be 7 days...

Maybe we could reduce the voting time as a suggestion, possibly amend the competition guidelines as such:


Weekly Rotation Timescale

Wednesday
The photo for editing will be submitted in this thread.

Saturday
Entries submitted via PM will be included in a voting poll, which will be made available for 48 hours.

Monday
The winner of the democratic vote will be announced, allowing time for the winner to submit to the adjudicator their choice for the new photo to edit.

Tuesday
Adjudicator for the week comes up with 3 themes and hosts public voting poll for the theme of the week, without the photo being posted first. :confused:

Wednesday
The new weekly photo will be posted in this thread, along with the result of the voting poll for the theme, to begin the cycle once more.
