Photoshop Competition Voting

Original image. Click to enlarge.

- Only two entries were submitted this week, making a vote almost unnessecary. Apologies if you felt the topic was obscure - the topic was up to the previous week's winner. Both thumbnails corresponds to a voting choice. They are assigned numbers in no particular order. Please vote for which of the two you feel is the best image.

- The votes are public so it will be clear to the adjudicator whether someone has voted for their own image.

- I will leave this thread stickied for 48 hours, but unlocked. Feel free to to discuss the merits of this week's entries, and the competition in general. Just a reminder, no hinting or 'biggin' up' from the entrants.

This week's theme was "The future of humans and technology: The Matrix?"

Absolutely, this competition is open to all who want to have a crack at it. I look forward to seeing your entry next week. :)

2 for me as well (if you want my vote everytime put a giant robot in :D). It's not really matrixy...but then that wasn't really what was asked for

The matrix lettering throws off 1 for me, the rest I think is ok, maybe the donkey is there because the guy needed a low tech way to avoid the smiths.. :P

I went with #1. As much as I love simplicity and "realism," I think #2 looked a bit too effortless. While the first one was a little gaudy, it showed more PS skill in my opinion.

I voted 2 because I couldn't get past the donkey, looks so out of place. And the robot is about to blow the kid away :P

i'm just wondering if a little more time on this would allow more entries, these competitions seem to be coming around so quickly that i often miss the voting as its over and done with in the blink of an eye.

Just a thought, might give people a little more time to work on things on their days off and such :)

After the voting for this week, I'll sticky a poll vote to move the competition to a fortnightly (2 week) contest. If the majority want to change, it will happen.

fair enough, just a thought thats all. A forum that i frequent does photoshops on cars only and theirs runs for a month, but the outputs are often simply stunning, some really amazing work being done there :)

oh suppose i should vote...... going for number 2 myself, although very simple i think its quite effective. The size, direction and positioning of the mech is just about spot on :)

2 for me. Both were good, but as mentioned, the donkey is just kinda there. And what are they carrying? Good job both though.

Number 2 I considered to be a better option...

Whilst I agree that there was perhaps more material to judge a Photoshop competition by in Number 1, I felt that it took this weeks challenge a little too literal.

However, I felt that the rendering and shadowing within entry 2 was spot on, and the fact that this weeks was to do with "The future of humans and technology: The Matrix?" - I felt that this one captured the possible scenes perfectly, as neither human nor robot-dude knows whether the other means harm or not... Is the robot pointing in mimic, or aiming to shoot in defence?

Probably a whole load of crap for a sticky poll, but hey, I'm bored with not a lot better to do! :D

2 for me, 1 just looks like a cluttered paste random matrix related (and some unrelated...donkey?) things into the picture...while neither one really stands out at me, 1, as previously stated, just looks too cluttered.

Congratulations To ***Sacrinyellow5***

A big congratulations to Sacrinyellow5, who has won this week's competition with this entry:

Well done to you for what I believe is your first victory in the competition.

The competition will take a break for a period of one week, until 7 February2007, to post
a vote asking whether it would be preferred moving this to a fortnightly (14 day) contest.

You pretty much nailed what I was trying to convey.
