Offline Antivirus

hahaha, loool hey Ben , thanks men, you totally punched him in the face :P:P

No problem :D

So to get back on the subject, are you going to download your friend anti-virus's updates and then install them on his computer?

Even if your A-V is old, the updates will keep it as new :) I have Norton Internet Security 2005, the virus library is the same as the 2007 ;)

thx mate, much appreciated, i was checking the ones for Trend Micro, the updates are bigger than norton

No problem ;), Always glad to help :)

The question is are they better than Norton's? (That I can't answer, I've never used Trend Micro :) ).

i dunno too, but Trend Micro Antipsyware is very good, that i know, i dunno bout the antivirus modules, but it's worth a check though

Yes their products are decent, I especially like Hijackthis :)

I don't see why they'll be bad as A-V, they have developed good anti-spyware.
So yes it's worth a try :D

I know PCcillin was lighter weight than norton and scanned faster a couple of years ago, I would hope they stuck with that approach. I don't know why the definitions would be bigger though...unless they have more (but I think that's unlikely) or possibly symantec compresses them.

Any Antivirus program that also has an enterprise level antivirus should let you release a definition file as needed without needing to go to the internet. I don't know for sure but the 3 I can think of right away that should do it are Norton, Mcafee and PCcillin. Kaspersky or Panda may as well.
