My computer today decided to shut down all running applications and the shut itself down! I am currently running a virus scan but nothing so far not even an un-wanted program!!! does anyone have any ideas why this might have happened? i was thinking maybe hackers but i don't understand why anyone would want to hack into my computer!

What programs were running when it shut down?
What else were you doing at the time?
How's your CPU cooling working? Did your CPU overheat?
What's the condition of your power supply?
This'll do for starters.

i was running windows media player and msn messenger and i opened IE just beofre it shut down
my cpu is cooled by an extremly large heat sink! i have a dell pc!
i was running to prgrams and my processor is pentium 4 celeron 2.66Ghz so i don't think that would have over heated and i didnt get nothing from the small cmos speaker!
and the computer is just over a year old so i don't think the power supply is doing too bad but i have spare so i might have a go!
