i love intel. finally got my rig running, maximum load temp is 31C
this is frigging crazy.
temp in my room is 66F (18.8C)
idle temp is 19C in speedfan and the bios. this thing is CRAZY cold.
time to o/c a little.

I like my new Case.. 40*C CPU and 39*C Motherboard :D I know how you're feeling. ( But my OCZ PSU still isnt shipped,.. so i cant go overclocking yet :( )

yep, Intel have them running stupidly underclocked, even though there not actually underclocked.

I mean

1.2GHz overclocks on STOCK cooling and STOCK voltages

2.5GHz overclocks or more on the X6800's

yea they do. im gonna do some benchmarking soon after i overclock. im mostly updating windows xp and getting all my programs on my hard drive at the moment. - the disc i have only has windows xp, none of the updates. its an original. lol from 2002 baby.

Depends on the motherboard. I can't get mine higher then 2.05Ghz without receiving BSOD's. And yes, I've lowered the memory speed.

GOEFF WHEN DID U GET A CORE 2 DUO
nice!
lol im at 2.21ghz and i undervolted it from 1.325V to 1.000V and my temps dont even hit 35C in full load.
trying to overclock more but it starts looking for my system drive.
like "hard disk boot failure" or w/e
any ideas?

an x6800 would PWN even more. lol

but any ideas on that problem guys?
settings that boot:
default everything...
2.21ghz (317fsb) stock voltage (1.325V
2.21ghz 1.000V (less than stock volts)
but i cant get anything higher to boot because its giving me stupid hard disk boot errors..

how much faster is this thing than a X2 3800+??? I have a 3800+ socket am2 and I couldn't imagine it to be that much better than this. I just can't wait for the $600 dollar core 2 duos to cut half in price so I can do a new build next year.

OMEGA, thats what you get for buying a sub-par MOBO. Better luck next time!

edit: That reminds me its time to bring my vcore down a bit now that I know it's stable. Mine idles between 28-30C and under full load it gets to around 43C-44C at the hottest. Normal use is around 36C. Thats 50% cpu usage.

ETSA why am i having problems overclocking this thing past a certain point??
it gives me an error like "disk boot error, please insert boot disk" or whatever...
you've got the same motherboard as me and my ram is running below its default specs...

http://forumz.tomshardware.com/hardware/Core2Duo-Overclocking-Guide-v1-ftopict197995.html

1. Disable ‘AI Tuning’ for ASUS, ‘C.I.A.2’ for Gigabyte
2. Set PCI Express (PCIe) frequency @100Mhz (‘Auto’ for DS3/DS4/DQ6)
3. Set PCI frequency @33Mhz
4. Disable Hyperpath 3 (for P5W DH only)
5. Disable any ‘spread spectrum’
6. Disable Q-Fan (for ASUS only)
7. Disable ‘Limit CPUID Max to 3’
8. Disable any overvoltage protection
9. Disable ‘C1E’
10. Disable ‘EIST’
11. Disable Virtualization Technology
12. Disable No-Execute Memory Protect
13. Disable any other thing you don’t use
14. Do not enable any speed enhancements you see

Try some of that, also make sure timings are entered correctly for RAM and make sure you use small enough intervals in your step ups, I did 3 mhz on the FSB each increase.

Also MAKE SURE YOUR BIOS IS UPDATED. Mine wasn't when I bought it, that should help a lot, when you boot up it should say. It should be F6, it should be under mainboard in cpuz also.

Male sure you take the time to stress test.

I know it wasnt going to be an overclocking motherboard, but I needed this so I could use my existing DDR RAM and AGP video card, I didn't feel like buying new parts when Vista and DX10 are going to be releasing soon.

It's my sentiment that new stuff will always be on the horizon, so therefor I purchased my new system I am sure it will last as long as the one you will build in the future, the only difference is that you have to wait and I will have to upgrade later, but I can reap the benefits now, albeit at a price.

yea, my bios version is F2... i didn't see an F6... but mines 965G so i figure 965G is only compatible with F5 drivers, cause thats the newest stuff i saw.
i tried updating it earlier today even before anyone suggested it on forums i asked... but i can't figure out how to do it... i click enter and it kind of seems to do something and then exits the screen back to windows... but then the bios still says F2...
ill try those settings though... thanks for the help :)

i guess 2.21ghz would suffice... but 3.4ghz would be nice!
haha that rhymes.
