Oh no...

I would get a XP disc. (borrow off a friend theres plenty around haha)

Boot the XP disc and go through the motions, when you click install XP or whatever it will search the HDD for any other Windows products, when it does this it will have the option to repair the current install.

while you have the hard drive hook up to your machine, can you copy the hall.dll file from your machine to it? Can you actually search the file on the hard drive while it is connected to yours--to see if it is present or not--The system folder may be corrupted--see if you can access it--If you can browse the drive on your computer, it may not be a boot issue--file may be corrupted
