I was just in my bios trying to oc. I set the things that needed to go to manual and then restarted and highered the voltages and some other stuff that i cant remember... :o . Anyways, as it is now. my computer wont start... It goes on fans and everything are going, leds are flashing... but nothing. Did i fry my mobo? Whats going on! Im going out of town on friday, it would be nice to have it fixed by then! Thanks for your time guys!

ok. I tured off my psu, then back on again. that got my computer back to bios, i lowed the v's and now i can get back to my user. but how do i konw what to set everything to?

Im not very clear on this i know. im going to go back into it asap and desribe everything i did. And did i what? Im new to this whole oc thing!

LOL, well you should learn where the CMOS clear jumper is before you start doing all this :P

I was a bit suprised that your system didn't reboot. I figured it would do something as most have a failsafe. Mine, for example, will revert back to it's previous setting if you try and overclock it and something happens like that...

As for the volts, I don't know what the processor should be set to. I'd suggest going with the defaults for now. At least untill you learn a bit more about overclocking ;)

very true...it isnt good to mess with things you aren't properly educated about...unless you are going with the trial and error route

Lol. I read the oc101.... Very late at night. hahaha. Well i went back and checked what i did, ill list in in order below.

1- Set cpu speed to manual, Set Vcore set to Manual
2-Set cpu Frequency Multiple (mhz) to 266/44
3-Set memory frequency ro 400mhz from auto
4-Set cpu vcore to 1.5000V
5-Set DDR Voltage Adjustment to 2.7V from auto
6-Then went to chip config under advanced and set the graphics aperture to 256MB from 128 MB

I know i fu*ked it up in steps 2 and 4... but what am i supposed to set them on.

first your board has this
C.P.R.(CPU Parameter Recall)
When the system hangs due to overclocking failure, there is no need to open the case to clear CMOS data. Just simply restart the system, the BIOS would show the previous setting and then users can amend the CPU setting again.

As for your list of 6 items - jesus it all wrong, did you even read oc101 :D
1- Set cpu speed to manual, Set Vcore set to Manual
ok this is the setup for a non oc'd system (not too sure about the use of the words "cpu speed to manual" it that what the option says in bios? try to use the same terminology. I have your bios manual in front of me and this option is not immediatly apparent to me.)
http://www.asus.com/products/mb/socket775/p5p800/overview.htm

2-Set cpu Frequency Multiple (mhz) to 266/44
That is too high a jump for your first step. And i assume that the 44 is you pci/agp speed - which should never ever exceed 33mhz. But acording to the manual you pci/agp settings dont even go that high so lord knows what your talking about here

What you needed to change was the setting called CPU External Frequency in the section of bios called JumperFree Config (page4-19 in the manual). Increase this slowly at a rate of about 3-5mhz each time.

3-Set memory frequency to 400mhz from auto
Fine, you dont want to oc you ram
4-Set cpu vcore to 1.5000V
Well you set this to auto in step one???
You only increase this is you cant boot stably with your increased CPU External Frequency (see step 2 above)
5-Set DDR Voltage Adjustment to 2.7V from auto
Fine, you shouldn't need to increase the vdimm if your not ocing your ram. May be need to do this later for stablilty issues as we increase CPU External Frequency (see step 2 above)
6-Then went to chip config under advanced and set the graphics aperture to 256MB from 128 MB
What, why. Did you see this discussed in oc101

For beginning to overclock shouldnt you have just upped the FSB first not gone for the voltage "all guns blazing style". I would have upped FSB til the system clonked out and then upped voltage and carried on with FSB.

lol, i clearly dont know what im doing. lol, i sett everything back to how it is. i did read the oc101. but i never understood alot of it. haha.

dont give up, just read into it a lot more, give your self a few weeks to learn all the terminology. You should know what everything is called and what it all does before you start.

lol, thanks for the support, im going out of town tomoro for a couple of weeks, when i get back, i guess i will look in to it.
