..choosing a GFX card is like trying to pick sweets in an over stocked sweet shop! I've shortlisted 3 but need help choosing there are 2 mid range (for me anyway!) and one budget!

It has to go with a Core2duo E6400 (2.13Ghz) and a compatable Motherboard (which I haven't chosen yet - any recommendations there would be much appreciated as well ~ budget £140 max)

Ta muchly for all your speedy responses! :D

hehehe, well the Radeon will have the best visual performance (for gaming)while the 7900gt will probably give you best overall performance(day 2 day basis). The first one kinda bytes.

i would go with the Pro just cuase its clocked at 580mgz

the X1950PRO will give you the best performance in all games as far as I know, its on par with the 7950GT as for day to day activities... integrated does that... I am 100000000000% sure that you wont see a difference in your web browsing if you got the 7900

not true.

7900GT > X1950pro

not true.

x1950pro > 7900GT

Look at the specs, it's the same as or better than the 7900 in everything.

Stop the fighting. Lets agree to disagree.

For games, x1950PRO takes the cake.

For day to day use, 7900gt would probably have an overall better performance but until we sit down and do some extensive experimentation, we wont know for sure.

********AND NO, HAVING A GAME AS A BENCHMARK WILL NOT WITHOUT REASONABLE DOUBT MAKE THAT GFX CARD BETTER IN OVERALL PERFORMANCE******

read his post it says the 1950 is better in gaming but for web browsing and basic things you wont tell a difference...

Its difficult to tell the difference from web browsing and the basic things just looking at the GFX card. You may have a high end card and a bullcrap low end and you still wont notice a difference in web browsing.

The point is, even if your computer runs at 115% optimal performance, you wont know the difference from 100% yet you will strive to have it at 115.
