while trying to fix another computer and upgrade ram on computer i broke some of the pins/clips that hold the memory and want to buy some new ones but am not sure about how to outsource the pins that are the smaller ones... but i cant remnber the name of the pins to search...searching with pins doesnt work...using clips doesnt work eitehr so what are they called?

You mean the retaining clips for the memory slots? You will most likely have to take them from a non working motherboard.

Does it have to be the same brand of MBO, or the clips are universally interchangeable?

90% of the reason for the clips are to help pop the memory out. I mean they do help slightly holding it in. The memory snaps in the slot pretty tight. Unless you shake the stack upside down I dont think you would have a problem with the memory coming loose.
