on hot days my cpu runs up to temperatures like 70 sometimes even 75 C

i have a intel celeron D 3.06 ghz should that happen when i run video games on my pc? should i worry?

if any of you know a good cooling system besides water cooling that can keep my cpu cooler let me know so i can use that like something that supports 3.06 ghz or more?

umm by the way when i get a fan 80mm should i look for rpm does it matter on how fast the rpm is?

75°C is very high. Any higher and your computer will shut itself down to prevent any damage. 2 of the best HSFs out right now are the Zalman CNPS9500 and the Thermaltake Big Typhoon. If you CPU keeps running that hot the life-span will be shortened.

The higher the RPM the faster the fans spins, that also means increased noise. CFM tells you how much air is being pushed. Make sure you look at those and the dBA. The higher the dBA the noiser the fan is. ~25dbA is considered silent.

Try to get a good fan like the Big Typhoon or something with a good heatsink. A copper heatsink is the best kind because the copper conducts heat well.

I'm currently seeing 42C on an AMD64 3500+ with a Zalman cooler that is all copper except the fan seated with Artic Silver 5 as the compound used there. The board temp averages about 44C at this point while the breakin process and setting of the thermal compound occurs. An Intel model would be more likely seen closer to 50C there since the P3 + P4 model cpus generally run warmer then AMD. Over a week ago an AMD 32bit Atholon XP3200+ saw 85C the max temp when an aftermarket addon cooler with a 92mm fan sitting on top quit without notice. Besides that the bios chipset acted up showing higher then average temps. But it wasn't the cpu that quit. The cpu was saved as a spare for another case while getting a Zalman seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835118119 still seems to be running a little warm due to just being put in for a few days now.

One option to consider besides the usual vendor for carrying cooling devices is the type of vendor that specifically carries those types of products alone. One of several vendors in mind there can be visited at http://www.coolerguys.com
