Ok so I am gonna sell my laptop on ebay(cant find a good enough trade).
The question is should I buy or build, I don't wanna spend over $650USD(for everything).

The comp will be used for maybe a little bit of gaming(maybe WoW or Guild Wars and sims) The rest will be movies, music, photos, Internet, a little bit of school. Also would like to be able to run Vmware or Virtual PC.

So is there a great pc (pre built) thats better then just building?
So which can run faster, better, and best for future upgrading?

I will be doing some research once I wake up but your guys input an help would be greatly appreciated.

Build is always the better option for gaming. But I doubt if you could have a decent PC to play game if you just got $650 and need to include everything.

Approx $700 list from newegg w/o shipping.
