Ok, so what's the best way?

To apply thermal paste?

Thanks! :D

I usually do a dot in the center and then spread it around a bit. It honestly doesn't make a huge difference if done right, because the pressure between the heatsink and heatspreader should spread it out.

Well;

For Single Cores: Dot in the middle of CPU.

Dual Cores: Line Down the middle of CPU.

Quad Cores: Line Accross the CPU.

Erm, the last one... Hmmm... For AMD! :P

Personally, my best results have been from doing the third pic first super thin, then the dot in the first pic before dropping the HSF on.

I shove my finger in some plastic wrap and stretch it out, to spread the dot thin. I've never tried the heatsink spread method, or the line one, but I get ok temps. I dunno if it really matters as long as you don't stick too much or too little.

Do you think it's the same with the Intel Dual Cores? at least mine is Conroe based.

BTW nice NB H/S there! :D
