MY 6800GS just doesn't cut it sometimes.... I'm considering SLI as I can pick up another 6800GS for $90 and they will perform about as good as a 7900GT which is $200...

NOW:
For all of the people who are going to do the whole "Just upgrade to a better card and keep your other slot open so you can SLI later" I did that, thats why I'm doing the whole "SLI Later" thing.

The only thing I'm concerned about is my PSU....

how much amp on the 12v rail does it have? :o I ran these cards on a 24A PSU.. it got a bit hot,.. but it ran them ^^
and the 6800's consume less power than the 7800's iirc,.. so if you have 26A on the 12v rail i think it'll run already

what kinda psu unit do u have(wattage and brand)?sli is pretty cool gives u like 1.9 times the performace of a single card so u loose like 10% of 1 card .. not 2 bad i would go wif sli if u have enough power cheap way 2 get good performance cause like me i bought my 6600gt ages ago and now its not worth much i got another one and sli my computer which was very cheap upgrade and keeping up with the new mid range cards(as i will neva be able 2 afford top of line fx cards(unless i get rich)) im running duel core 4800+ sli 6600gt 2 hdd 1 dvd 2 ram sticks rom tv card and a buncha fans(like 8(good vent)not as much as it sounds) off a 500w PSU by hyena(good brand) so yea i would recremend sli and it should last u a while untill u can save for something even cooler for later

hmm, i dont think the 6600 series were power hungry im pretty sure u can run it, since im running ati crossfires 1900xtx on my pc with an altec 350 watt psu, kinda funny, just shows that more watts isnt better.

I'm gonna SLI 6800GS's, not 6600's :P

Thing is, I might have a problem with my HR-05...

nah, you should be fine with yours. its low-wattage, but its high quality, and 450 watts usually always does the job. (just dont o/c)

I'm having a little trouble finding any benchmarks that put SLIed 6800GSs anywhere near a 7900GT in any other benchmarks except 3dmark. Can you enlighten me, please?

I don't trust THG...

Two SLIed 7600GT can beat 7900GT by about %5, so the 6800GS in SLI can't beat 7900GT. If you have unlocked 6800GS in SLI then will on par with 7900GT.

But personally, I prefer to get one strong video card instead of two cards, because some games still don't support SLI. If you know Rainbow Six Vegas doesn't support SLI. So, so you not gain any performance if you have SLI setup. Anyway I have heard that they will release a patch for Rainbow Six that support SLI

Kidding right?

I must be reading toms harware guide incorrectly or else this is saying a 6800 gt in sli is the same (if not worse) compared to 6800gt.

Charts.

Those charts are joke

I did, I just cant find the site anymore.... I know its does slightly better in some games then a 7900GT at 1600x1200 and the full eye candy but only by 1-3 FPS...

As for the person who said I should just get one new card:
I said I did the whole getting a decent card then getting another one in SLI later.... I know I still won't have the greatest power ever, but it will be a lot more then I have now. and if no one buys my video card, then SLI is what I'm stuck with.

You can't just compare the stats to one another. You have to look at real world performance.

Sorry could someone Pm me the link to that site please where you can compare cards?

Thanks ;)
