Hi,

I have an old Ultra ATX Case from 2000s (front Aluminium) that i want to use with my Gigabyte Aorus B550 Pro-p
Of course the case have maybe 15 years old & at the front there is two USB (v1.1 or v2) **?** & a useless firewire port ...
But i love the ATX case !
Is possible to mount a modern pc on this ? ... the SSD drives will maybe be a problem ... but maybe not ?!
(see images)
Thanks

Haha I remember those.

They're still just ATX, so ATX boards fit the screw holes and the IO shields are the same, so it would work. They generally suck for cable management and have outdated airflow philosophies, you miss out on features like modern interfaces on the front panel, but otherwise a PC is a PC. You can adapt 3.5" or even 5.25" bays for 2.5" SSDs directly if you didn't want to just secure them yourself.

I kind of wish I still had my old chieftec case from the early 2000s

Computer cases have been standardized for decades...

Adapters for SSD drives to go into 3.5" and larger HDD bays have been around for years.

Itll work just there are some things you need to take onto consideration like cable management, noise management and cooling / air flow.

I know; it has little consideration for cable management and it has antiquated airflow philosophies, but in my mind, its style is timeless. So, I'm keepin' it.

Reminds me of the PowerUp case I had on my first build.

It's not impossible to cable manage a case that wasn't designed for it, you just have to get creative! ;)

Yeah, I started out with being creative, then the creativity ran out, so I started cramming wires in there and then closed up the case...lol. I still like it, though.

Oh yeah, I feel ya! I had the same problem trying to repurpose an old office Pc for my nephew. I ended up routing the tangled excess of wires in the front panel. :D

Nice dawg. My old trick was stuffing excess wiring in the bottom bay of the 5.25" externals.
