old build problems.

Trying to setup an old am2+ motherboard and had an issue, i think its dead but I would like a second opinion. the motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-MA770-S3 not sure what cpu is on it.

Everything is plugged in seemingly correct however when I power it on I encounter a problem. The power button the the case works to turn it on, the facs and all start spinning and the HDDs power up, then nothing. The strange thing is that the power button will no longer work once it has powered on. I cannot use the power button to turn the machine back off even when held down.

the motherboard and chip where taken out of another case not long ago, they where still working at the time, the ram was also working just fine as early as a week ago.

So can anyone think of an issue that could be causing this or is at as I fear and the board or chip is dead?

Sure the case power/reset and so on are on the right headers/ got the CPU 4 pin power connector in/ have the standoffs in the right places/ have the video cards power connector plugged in if it has one/

Unplug it, push the power button a few times. Like above, reset the cmos and plug it back up and see what happens.
