Old CPU Vs i7

There are a lot of CPU's out in the market which are older than the i7 but their GHz (denoted as speed) is higher. An example of this: i7 860 runs at 2.8GHz and a Pentium 4 can run at 3.2GHz.

Now of course the i7 is faster but shouldn't the Pentium one be faster since it was more GHz?

The i7 supports lots of multitasking and has many more features than Pentium, just go to intel.com

Its work each clock cycle. You got two guys doing the same job. Moving bricks from point A to point B. The first guy (P4) is shot out of a gun, picking up one brick at a time running back and fourth. The second guy (i7) moving slower but using a wheelbarrow taking alot of bricks at a time. The second guy (i7) is going to get done alot faster.
