Old Dell

I have a 5 year old Dell comp ( really good at the time it came out but sucks now). Is there any way I can upgrade it?

Its most likely not worth it. You could add some RAM or a new video card pretty cheap but other than that it will cost you $$$ to make it worth while.

I have a Dell too! Wow im not the only one, I have found that it is difficult to upgrade as Dell do not like other pieces of hardware etc being used in their machines! You do have to be careful! I nearly killed my computer installing a TV card.

Brilliant cheers, I wasn't planning on upgrading yet as money is a bit of an issue, but i will be soon so i will bare that in mind.
Thanks

Yea its possible to upgrade. but the way dell builds their pc.. its really a pain.

if you know the specs of your pc, crunch out the numbers and see if its worth it.

Yes it is a pain! Which is why i havn't bothered yet and my current money situation! I am thinking about building one soon though, I find that's easier and cheaper!

Being a five year old PC, you may wanna check the specs on the cpu it has, most likely its a pentium you can upgrade it to a faster one (check the type of socket the mainboard has to determine which one is right for you). I bought my dell pc in the early part of 2002. It has a Pentium 4 2ghz. I'm thinking about upgrading it to a faster processor, with more cache etc. You can also drop in a few exta MB of RAM in there. 4BG's the limit. If you're into gaming you might want to upgrade you Video Card also (dont forget the RAM). There are prolly other little tweaks you can do to spice up things a little. Good luck.

if your not sure about the specs. of your comp., i suggest you download Everest Home Edition, Google it. it will tell you almost everything about your pc.
