old DOS program in WinXP

I have been trying to get an old (c 1992) DOS program to run in WinXP. I am able to get it started but even setting the program to use the full window, when I run it, there is a DOS window that fills the screen, but the program is squished and only in the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the screen.

I have tried playing around with different parameters in the properties box to make the program run under Windows, but I can't seem to remedy this.

Does anyone know what specific things I would have to change--memory usage, font size, window size, etc-- that would resolve this issue?

TIA

Have you tried a DOS emulator? Maybe DOSBox could help you out? Also, if you want to put the programs you're having trouble with up on RapidShare or something, I'd be happy to download them and try to find some way to get them running under XP.

Let us know. ;)

Well, I played around some more, and I have no idea what exactly I did, but now it is coming up as a full window, and the program completely fills the window.

Thanks for the suggestions, though.
