I have an old computer that stopped working it basically wont start up at all. No problem I figured I would just add the disk drive and hard drive to my wife's computer, so i was able to install it but i was hoping to keep the music and pics on it, is there an easy way to do that from the point i am at now? or an easy way period where i wouldnt actually have to buy anything? Also, if i format the disk to the new comp it will delete the info right? any help would be appreciated, i do plan to use the Hard Drive just trying to keep all of that old stuff thanks again!

it does recognize it but when i try to open it, it asks to format it, will that delete everything i am trying to keep?

it is set up as the slave drive, i dont want to delete it all i want to use that hdd with all the info on the second comp. i tried to set it up as the main drive and it wouldnt start up the OS it aske dfor the recovery cd said that hardware changes may have effected sofware or operating systems

is it possible to take a hdd from one comp that was a master drive and put that into another comp as the master? they both run winxp

1. Probly not - something about Windows is installed specifically for your old computer. I hear that it might work, you would have to boot from Windows CD, and hit Repair or something along those lines.

2. When you are viewing the drives in Windows Explorer, right-click on your secondary drive, and view the properties. It should be in there somewhere.
