old hdd with windows in new rig

Hello, I am going to get a new rig and i was wondering if i could keep the hdd with windows xp i have right now. Would it work out or should i just get a new hdd and install a fresh windows once i get my new comp ? Btw. im on a prebuilt now so windows is on the hdd.

Usually windows will not transfer to another system with out some changes. It will have the old motherboard and bios setup on it. It is best to do a fresh install on it in the new machine.
