Old Itronix laptop

Itronix

New Member
Hello. This is my first post on this forum and I am new to computer repair. I purchased an Itronix computer (model unknown) for two dollars. I have a couple of friends that know about computers and say that from appearence, it is worth looking into to repair it. It's problems are: missing hard drive, missing battery, and the whole bottom is missing (metal), which I believe carried a floppy drive. The model number badge is missing, but judging by other photos of Itronix computers, it looks to be windows 95 or so. The case is a metal construction and there are photos on the web of people drenching them with water and parking their cars on them. It is also internet capable.

My question is: Does anyone have these parts? HSC electronic supply may have the hard drive and possibly a battery, but I am not sure and would like to try here to see if I could get parts from another Itronix (if they will work, and aren't Itronix, that's fine as well). I would also like to not have to put a ton of money into it. I restore antique radios, so even though they are quite primitive to computers, I still do know electronics and am not brain-dead in the subject. I would post in the for sale forum, but I am too new. Thanks everyone!:D

It's not worth spending any money on it. I wouldn't have even spent $2 to get it, unless it was working fine. For $50 off of Ebay you could get a much much better computer, or you could build a brand new one for $250, and both would whoop the living crap out of that one.

If you insist on repairing it, you'd probably spend no more than $25. However, I don't know if you would be able to replace the actual bottom of the case.

I just don't see reason to spend money on this ancient computer.

edit: whoops i just saw you were talking about a laptop.

Oh sorry, yes I am talking about a laptop. I figured that it would be hard to find a bottom, regular pc or laptop. It has a removable hard drive.

With that much missing, I'm sure you'll end up spending much more than the machine's worth, or more than you could get an equal/better laptop off ebay.
