Old P4 vs. New P4 question

I have a old P4 Northwood stats below. And i was wondering if the 3ghz Prescott with a 200mhz fsb and HT would be a whole lot better then my Northwood OCed at 3.2ghz/160mhz/640mhz. Do you think i would notice a significant performance increase gaming and just normal usage?
 
Yes you would notice a significant difference.

However it is deffinetly not worth it to upgrade from your CPU to a newer P4.

Well i would upgrade to a newer dual core system with DDR2 and PCI-E but then i would need to get a new video card, and i would need to get a high end 7 series cuz im not gonna buy crap. This is actually more of a temp thing until i get ALOT of money to get a whole system. And i think you mean 200mhz fsb and 800mhz bus. All i know is that i just used my step-dads computer and he has a 3.2 prescott with a 200mhz fsb and HT but its hard to tell if his was faster then mine cuz he had SOO MUCH SYSTEM CLUTTER it was outragously slow. Took near 5mins for windows to get loaded and it was still loading crap. I dont think i would like my computer like that, but oh well. In any case, i wasnt sure if it would be an upgrade really. Is there any dual core Intel mobos that are PCI-E and support DDR400?
 
My chip? You mean my cpu? The only one i have right now is my ol Northwood. But im looking to build a whole new system when i get the money, cuz im still back in 2004 here, video card wise, cpu wise im in 2001 lol. I kinda wanna keep my ram for a lil bit though.........after all, i did just buy it. So if possible, i wanna use it in my next system.

I looked on the stats for it there, and im pretty impressed though it looks like it runs hot, wouldnt doubt it. 3.73ghz and 2 2mb ls caches and 1066mhz(assuming thats the bus and not fsb) thats pretty impressive. Not to mention the low v-core. Do you think this is worth its price? And also do you think it will drop alot once the Conroe is released? I dont think i will buy it, depending on the price of both the Conroe and this one after the Conroe is released, im just curious.

No it's not good at all for the price. THe X2 3800+ does better in most things then that does (especially games). If you even considered getting something like that, wait until the end of this month for the Core 2 Duo Extreme.

If I were you I would buy a Pentium D 805 to hold you over until you get your good cpu, since it would be a much better choice than a P4 3.0.

(I guess you were right about the FSB and Bus, I just got them mixed up).
 
Hmmm...well, iv thought about it and yea i guess its not worth it to upgrade with this board, ill just save up and build a whole new pc, depending on the price of the conroe i might get that.

and he has the P4P800, which is a stable oc'er choice for the 478 platform

I know none of those fit my socket, i might not even keep this mobo anymore, after all it is about 5 years old, as is my P4. Outdated? lol.
