Old Power Supply To Power My New GPU

Hello, I have an old power supply that is 600w. My new GPU needs an 8 pin connection from the Power supply, but I only have a 6 pin.
My PSU: http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/ULT-LS600_Manual.pdf

6 pin to 8 pin adapter such as: http://www.miniinthebox.com/0-1m-0-...nsion-power-cable-free-shipping_p1584252.html (6 Pin to 8 Pin Adapter)
Edit: or is this a better option? http://www.staples.ca/en/StarTech-c...-Cable-Adapter-6-/product_248344_2-CA_1_20001 (LP4 to 8 Pin Adapter)
Will these work?

My new GPU is a Asus Strix GTX 970. I've also read that my 600w should be enough to power the GPU, please tell me if i'm incorrect.

Thanks for your time.

That unit only has 384 watts on the 12 volt rail, which is pretty poor. Any decent unit will have about 525 watts on the 12 volt rail. You need a different psu, the 970 really only needs about a 500 watt unit from a good brand such as the corsair cx500 which has 456 watts on the 12 volt rail. The cx500 is a much better unit then the 600 watt ultra psu you have.

Darn, alright I may need to buy a new PSU, my grandfather says he might have a older 750w I can use.

So as long as the PSU has a 12 volt rail with 500+ watts I should be fine?

Ill never be going back to the computer store in my home town, I spent $50 on this trash power supply that is 6 years old.

All depends on what that 750 watt power supply is. I really wouldn't be using a psu that is older then a few years anyway. Just post the model number of the psu and we can tell you if it will be good or not.

You're probably right, I may just buy a new PSU all together.

My next build I am going to plan a lot further. This is my first custom build and its been a mess. But once I have everything working I won't regret it.
