old printer doesnt work

I love the large refillable ink cartrige of my old HP820Cse printer but lately it's been acting bad, sometimes it works,mostly it just sit's there and does nothing but make a few clicking sounds. Even though ancient it has had very little use so it's unlikely a part is worn out. I have used both parallel cable and hybrid to USB cables, same results. Any suggestions would be most appreciated. I consider these old HP printers a gold mine of savings on ink, i'd prefer to keep it if possible. all os's including linux tried.

I agree it would be difficult to simply throw away an equipment that brought you so much satisfaction. Why not contact the manufacturer or a technician to revive it. For sure there will be lots of inkjet cartridges like the ones from http://inkjetsuperstore.com/ that will enhance its performance even more.
