Hello,
I am trying to set up an old toshiba satellite laptop running windows 98 for my daughter to play her games on. She's 5 and her games are basic. The CD Rom does not work on the computer and I was hoping to be able to use the USB key to run her games from. However, the USB key doesnt show in "my computer". When I go through parameters, it can see the USB but asks for drivers, however, I have no idea where to get them from. I didn't even know that they would be needed. I'd appreciate any idea. I could use a floppy to get the drivers onto the computer (if they are under 2.5MB).
Thanks in advance.

Sometimes you get lucky, and the manufacture of the Flash Drive will have Windows 98 drivers posted on their web site..

Windows 98 does NOT have USB drive support. You'll have to upgrade to Windows ME. It'll be easier. Better yet, go with XP.

2.5MB? Floppies are only 1.44MB :P

Are you connected to a network/the Interent? Have you considered transfering the files over the network? Or compressing them and uploading them to some site then downloading to the laptop?

You could also look into replacement drives if you know it's hardware. I know we have around 30 old laptop drives at the shop. I'd imagine they'd cut you a deal on some used hardware

There are Japanese FDs that are 2.5. The only thing I like about 98 and ME, is the floppy compression. Believe it or not, I got 30 MB to fit on a 1.44 MB floppy. However, it didn't work between computers.
