old white imacs

I am thinking about getting a refurbished 24 inch white imac from apple.com for $1200. Do you think getting an older model like this is OK for general computing needs and photographic work?

Would you be concerned with getting a system that is one model outdated? How does the quality of the screen, keyboard, etc...compare to the newer imacs? Finally, is $1200 a good value for the system??
 
if you could post some specs up that'd be great. overall the screens on macs are good, keyboards are nice, mice are passable that kind of stuff.

personally i would rather buy a 'refurbished' item over a 'used' one because at least you know it is new-like new condition.
 
is it a intel duo imac or the old g5 ones
i have used many g5 and they get really loud and hot when runing photoshop CS2
