Older AGP = Less power?

Just curious... I tried my Radeon 8500 in an old motherboard and the fan(on the GPU) didn't spin. That kind of freaked me out as I also didn't know the state of the motherboard! I tested the video card in another machine, it was fine(phew...HEY, it's still pretty good! ) And then I tried the motherboard with an old Number9 Video card. It worked fine.

I'm not sure what kind of power the various speeds can provide, but I think AGP4x can provide up to 25W.

AGP 3.0
Physically a 1.5V slot but has a voltage of 0.8V

AGP 2.0
Physically a 1.5V slot and has a voltage of either 0.8V* or 1.5V

AGP 1.0
Physically a 3.3V slot and has a voltage of either 1.5V* or 3.3V

*Depends on AGP speed used by card.

I think the newer graphics interfaces provide less voltage, but the newer cards that fit in them still use more wattage. Pretty much what mrjack's post said.

Yeah, I read that newer ones provided less voltage. Haha, perhpas this was an AGP 1x slot and I was fryingthe card Still though, I didn't think it mattered what speed the slot was...
