Omega Drivers

I've heard good things about "tweaked" drivers for your video card called Omega Drivers, so I downloaded them and they seem to boost my FPS in all of my games by a significant number. I was wondering why this is and any more info on how to get the best outta my gfx. card.

from what i remember when you install the drivers you get to choose quality or performance, when you choose performance it enables all of the optimisations in the driver nd takes shortcuts with quality settings to boost performance

Is that basically all that will enhance performance?? Because with some games, like Quake 4, when I turn on AA in either the game or the driver tool it will make the menus and game have weird flashes of a checkerboard pattern. I dont know what could be causing it but its annoying since I cant play the game with AA on.

yeah, i think the guy that does the drivers has some sort of readme on his site which tells you what's done to the drivers to get the performance increase

Where did you find the omega drivers? and did your 3DMark score change?

ok, i ran 3DMark03 before i installed the omega drivers, and after. These were the results:

Before: 11145
After: 11393

I set OpenGL and Direct3D to high performance, the quality was deffinetly not as good, but it wasnt too too bad. I dont think its worth getting slight better framerates and scores for the sacrifice in quality you get. Although the omega drivers have lots of other tweaks in them that make them better than ATI's.

And do you think the games look different when they are set to quality?? I have mine on quality and I still get better framerates than before.
