omg help...i cant access anything

I boot my computer and i get the background and thats it. no shortcuts, no task bar...nothing. I have windows xp and i boot into safe mode and i cant find where i can do a system restore. somebody please help

If you press Ctrl+Alt+Del can you get the Task Manager to appear? If so, what happens when you click File / New Task (Run..), type explorer.exe and click ok?

i typed explorer.exe and hit ok and it came up for a second and disappeared, i have nothing but the background again. i tried last known good configuration, it didnt help. i tried system restore and there are no restore points and no option to create a new one.

You can do a repair installation but it does sound like you have a virus or malware on your computer. Try posting this in the security forum and see what happens.

if you move your moust to the bottom of the screen does the task bar pop up

boot in safe mode with networking...and do a virus scan
