omg my processor temps just keep rising.....

I recently just bought an 8800 GTS 320MB and BioShock

Before installing both, my processor would idle at 27-30....

Since installing the 8800 and playing BioShock... my systems temps keep rising

Now at idle, im looking at 42 for CPU and 65 for GPU...

What am I doing wrong? Why did the CPU idle temp rise so much?

This is not after playing BioShock, this is after the compy just sitting quiet for hours and then starting up... idle temp

I use a ZALMAN Heatsink and Fan for my CPU...(in my sig) & Artic Silver 5

What else can I do????

put in another fan at the front directing air towards the cpu and a fan behind the cpu extracting the air out, that may help?
 
If the case cames with fans that would be an 80mm in the front and 120 for the rear there. The 8800 is more likely pulling more power through the board seeing temps climb. Since more power is going through the board those temps will rise where additional cooling and a front if not installed would be the thought on this to see temps lowered. Here I went with an Antec 900 model case to see even better air cooling over the Aero Cool model for the last build. Talk about low temps with a 700w supply.
 
well i decided it was time to take action, so I installed another Antec 80 mm fan in the front of my case, so now I have three case fans, the gpu fan, and the cpu fan/heatsink.....

the temps are low, they say 25 for core 1 and 30 for core 2.... also 56 C for GPU...

BUT NOW THIS SUCKA IS LOUD!!!

Sucks... but price I have to pay to game I suppose....
 
When going to upgrade when a problem came up on the old Socket A build here I found the board temps alone at 46-48C idle higher then the 44-46C seen on the AMD64 3500+ single core cpu on the last build. That old case had only a pair of 80s for rear and on the rear top of the compact style case.

Time for a new case? That came about when first seeing the Aero Cool model seen at http://www.xoxide.com/aerocool-aeroengine-2-black.html

The thing to note about this was that a Zalman CNPS 9500 was sitting on top of the cpu. But that old case lacked enough air flow for the newer 939 board's warmer temps seen. Once everything was moved into the Aero Cool model seen there the board temps dropped drastically from 48C down to 31C. The 3500+ then saw 33C! This was only a few months prior to first seeing the 900 now in use.
