I have a BFG Oc 6800 ultra watercooled. Its feels very cool but the software ( i nvidia software)says its overheating when playing game. Whats wrong?

i dont know to much about over heating but dose it say the temp?, are you overclocking it?

This is what i know aout metel, witch is part of that card. Metal is a good heat conducter so when you touch it it "pulls" the heat out of your fingers to give them the "cool" efect. But if its hot enough you can still easyilytell.

so it could easily not be overheating anyways.

The BFG Oc 6800 watercooled is a pre oc'ed card. You could try phoning bfg or clocking it down (but that would suck...). Does your case have enough fans? I think phoning BFG would be the best idea but they may not help you. If there is a way to turn off the alert you could but it might make the card die sooner.

What feels cool? The water block? If it isn't seated properly it will feel cool while the actual GPU is quite hot.

what drivers? The latest 71.84 seem to have this problem. The temperature on my 6800GT is way off. I noticed it saying my temps where much higher then normal, I then reinstalled the last drivers and sure enough it read what I was used too. With that little bit of knowledge I sighed a breath of relief and reinstalled the latest drivers again.

71.84 read the temperature ok for me, it's still around 44C for the core (which it has been for every driver I've had installed)

Strange a doodle :). It certainly is though screwy with my card and I back up the driver version to verify it where the driver as I where worried I where developing a heating prob.

Although how do you get 44C for the core? Mine is usually 69C idle and with this driver 72C. I've checked around and the 69 seems to be what allot of people are getting.

Edit:

Just realized.. I dunno what card you even have :P.. Ignore stupidity please.

for my Geforce 6800GT the water block is mostly a huge block with cooling the huge block in the middle and then the other 7 blocks around it. Not sure if the other 7 blocks would do anything heat wise but the stock cooling on my video card also cooled them so just maken sure that your water block is cooling everything on the video card.

well its my older Bro's 6800 ultra that idiot made me buy his 5900 Ultra and made me post this and he said it was cuz of dirt or some stuff in the thermal paste. Its a Geforce 5900 water block he just modified the ummm thing that keeps it stuck to the card
